Maryland Dairy Prices Set At Seventy Five Percent Of Parity
Maryland farmers will see milk and butterfat price supports cut to 75 percent of parity for the marketing year starting April 1, 1954, down from 90 percent. Ezra Taft Benson announced the change after talks with farm leaders and dairy groups. CCC stocks, equal to about 6 percent of annual milk production, influenced the move amid a mild winter boosting pastures and off-season production. Future focus will stress increasing dairy consumption to lift sales.
