A Denton society winter event at the Law Building Assembly Room featured an elaborate supper by Mrs. Will Richardson. Meanwhile Prof. M. B. Stephens underwent a successful gallstone surgery at Union Protestant Infirmary Baltimore with Dr Telviney and witnesses Dr Enoch George and Messrs Smith and Jones noting a satisfactory condition after the operation.
Thomas W. Bennett of Mardella Springs was found near Salisbury with a fractured skull and a maimed horse after three colored men lured him to look at timber land. He was taken to Peninsula General Hospital, recovered sufficiently to name his attackers, who were jailed.
Eighth district citizens appeared before the County Commissioners on Wednesday to urge building the Liden road. Examiners urged construction, but Mrs. Elizabeth Beachamp objected, and her objection was sustained. Fred R Owens, representing Beachamp, argued proceedings were irregular, while W F Liden was represented by Hutson. further steps are anticipated to pursue the road’s future.
From the Easton Ledger a suggestion favors the Rt Rev Leigh ton Coleman and the Rev Dr Jonathan Spencer Willis as Senators. The proposal imagines Delaware well represented as in Rodney Buyard and Saulbury days.

Also visiting were Mr and Mrs Ollie Williamson of Agon er and Miss Sue Turner of Federalsburg. Elmer Nichols of Seaford visited Clarence Nichols last Monday and Tuesday. Bascom Nichols is vacationing at Thomas W White’s. Goldie Alford spent last week with her parents at Hyson.
Federalaburg reports the Vivo Club preparing a sixteen page program for the drama Clover Farm with much advertising from local trades. Proceeds go to the town fire company. At a church meeting Jackson Price was chosen to confer with Rev. Wright. A railroad worker, Wheedleton, had a foot mashed by a pulling rail. Household moves include C R Pratt and Armat Lovan occupying a tenement, Cool family departing for York State, Mrs Mary Quidart and family moving from Newark, and Julia Wright and Corinne planning to move next week. Lena Sullivan visits Mrs J W Carrolll.
Miss Nellie Hayes and Ida Dean from Greenswood visited Mrs. H. T. Nuttle Sunday. Mrs. J. F. Stevens and Miss Helen Stevens spend the week in Baltimore. Clayton Covey of Philadelphia visits Artoria Nichols. Gypsies encamped nearby offer guidance for futures. Samuel G. Nattle returned from Wilmington trip. Painters Willis and Beauchamp work at Mr. Davis’. Concord M E Church meetings ongoing. Mrs. Join Gootee and son Charlie on sick list. A few local mumps cases reported.
Mr and Mrs Samuel Craig observed their fifty fifth anniversary on Sunday with friends present including John Craig and family and Mrs Shorts and family of Ridgely. Mr Craig is 85 and his wife 75, the latter weighing about 300 pounds, and both in good health. A shooting match Saturday drew sports from Kenton Blanco Pearson s and Sadlersville and local fans. Ollie Faulkner won five of six prizes. Washington Camp No 2 P C 8 A has bought William C Couley’s lot to build a new hall soon.

Miss Evelyn Fleming and her Sun day School class held a 10 cent pie social in the Brown block to aid missionary work. A Washington birthday box social followed at Queen Anne schoolhouse with boxes by Miss Annie Beauchamp and Mrs. Knotts, proceeds to Ethyl Moore’s Sunday School. Also reports on local visits, illnesses, and a long discussion on farm labor and machinery in Maryland led by Jacob Schonfarber with notes on Negro labor and agricultural science.
Henderson reports the fourth quarterly conference at the church on Saturday at 10 am. Dr. Corkran preached Sunday morning. An all day meeting was held at the Mission Sunday with Rev EB A Fergerson in charge before leaving for Reading PA. Several locals and guests visited church and friends in Wilmington, Bridgeville, Greensbo ro, Marydel, and nearby towns.
