Farmers would tariff all farm produce for protection
The author argues for sweeping tariff protection to raise farm prices and force consolidation. He posits a hypothetical trust reducing acreage and increasing wheat to 2.50 per bushel, with broader aims of sheltering farmers from foreign competition while condemning policy favoring manufacturers. He envisions open markets for farming inputs and domestic shipbuilding as a path to national wealth.
