Fire destroys E. H. Beer Granary at Price's Md
A grain elevator near Church Hill Price Maryland owned by Eugene H. Beer Jr burned for four hours following an undetermined origin fire. About 1 000 bushels of wheat were lost and 14 tons of feed saved. Insurance covers rebuild. Firefighters from Church Hill Centreville Chester Town Millington Sadlersville Ridgely Denton fought with 11 trucks and nearly 100 volunteers. Sparks fell near nearby houses but were kept damp by hoses and lack of wind. Fire started possibly from a short circuit in two new transformers cutting water supply from a nearby cannery.

Rotary Club Holds Annual Ladies Night in Denton
The Rotary Club of Denton held its annual Ladies Night at Talbot Country Club near Easton. About one hundred Rotarians and guests attended a turkey dinner and enjoyed entertainment. Elias W. Nuttle presided and introduced President Samuel Nowell, who passed the gavel to Charles Hadaway for the new year starting July 1. A pen and pencil set honored Nowell for his year as president.

Legion Carnival Ends Saturday June 29 With Car Raffle
The American Legion carnival, planned for one week, will conclude after two weeks on Saturday June 29 with a drawing for a new 1946 car. Last Saturday's Kiddie Matinee featured L Stevens Brown in a comedy rendition, prizes were awarded in a watermelon contest and amateur acts. David Kay donated 50 dollars to the local PTA and 25 dollars each to the Denton Ball Club and Boy Scouts. Radio stars are booked nightly through the closing date.
