Poisonous toxin risk from improper canning methods
A health expert warns that non acidic foods can harbor a dangerous organism if not killed during water bath canning. The organism itself is safe, but growth inside a can may produce a deadly toxin. Boiling food for 10 minutes destroys the toxin, and time tables for canning are available from local agents or the Extension Service.
