Oyster-shell lime better value for farmers says Mayland College
The Mayland Agricultural College Quarterly argues stone and shell lime analyses show oyster-shell lime contains as much lime as average stone lime and costs half as much. Gas lime is less active and poorer economy at 2 cents per bushel. stone lime at 10 cents cannot compete with shell lime at 5 cents on equal terms, though stone may win where transport favors it.
