Red Cross Swimming Classes Are Organized

The first session runs June 26 to July 14 at Nagel's Lake Harmony with instructor Miss Dottie Lee Fleetwood and assistants Miss Carol Ann Mandrell Miss Julia Nagel and Mr Jeff Cohce. It lists multiple beginner and intermediate groups at Nagel's Lake Federalsburg Lake and additional dates and notes a second session July 17 to August 4 with more classes to be announced.

Greensboro High School Class of 1951 Ten Year Reunion

The 1951 Greensboro High School graduating class held their ten year reunion on Friday June 2 at the VFW Home on the Denton Greensboro Road with 21 of 31 graduates present. Bob Kriss chaired the event as vice-president of the class and a committee was formed to plan the 15 year reunion in 1966. The group included teachers and Principal G B Hastings plus a social gathering after a business meeting. Photographed attendees and those absent were listed.

Grogan Named To Two Posts At Maryland Vet Convention

Roy V. R. Grogan was elected Senior Vice Commander of the Maryland Department and reappointed as District Claims Officer for the Eastern Shore District during the Veterans of World War One U S A convention at the Emerson Hotel Baltimore held June 9 10 and 11. Denton attendees included Lewis T. McNeal Joseph Callas Robert Mueller and Roy Grogan with next year’s event set for Frederick Md. Grogan also serves as Senior Vice Commander of the Eastern Shore Barracks 101 and Service Officer.

County Board Awards Senatorial Scholarships

The Caroline County Board of Education awarded four Senatorial Scholarships at its June 6 meeting. Stephen Svatik Jr. won Johns Hopkins University engineering, Mary A. Greer won Morgan College, and Washington College scholarships went to Larry S. Davis and George Allan Reddish. No applicants were received for St. John’s College, St. Mary’s Seminary Junior College, or Maryland Institute of Art.

Baseball Spectacular At The Ridgely Ball Park

Twin-County Pony League showcases 13 and 14 year old players in an exhibition at Ridgely Ball Park on June 17, 24 and July 1 under the lights. Denton Federalsburg Hurlock Preston Ridgely area teams contribute and proceeds go to the league. Public support praised with no admission, 6 pm and 8 pm games, and a leader per three players.

State Trooper Activity During The Past Week

The State Police report for the past week notes a Tuesday 2 17 p m collision at Route 404 and 16 in which a 58 Chevrolet driven by Ikatherine Plummer Ura 40 of Secretary Maryland failed to yield to a 1954 International tractor trailer driven by James Henry Groce 40 of Cordova Maryland. Ura was injured and charged with failing to grant right of way. The Chevrolet sustained total loss and the tractor trailer $250 in damage. Also admitted to Memorial Hospital Easton were Mrs Elizabeth Elliott a fellow occupant with severe injuries. Other items include multiple arrests for possession of alcohol and assault charges against several individuals. A note on June 12 marks Mr and Mrs William Edward Palm atary Ridgely celebrating their sixtieth wedding anniversary with Open House on June 18.

Furman's Grove Club Emphasizes 4-H At June Meeting

Furman's Grove Homemakers' Club met at Mrs. Donald Crouse's home to highlight 4-H through songs, project talks, and displays. They voted to fund a Caroline County 4-H camp scholarship, heard reports from county events, and noted an upcoming Rural Women's Short Course on June 1923. A Social Security representative will speak at Denton Fire House on June 19 at 10 a.m.

Summer Band Program For Our County Schools

The Office of Board of Education announces six week summer band classes. In Lockerman, Clyde Boyd directs beginners June 20 and advanced June 22. Four centers led by Earl Roberts open June 14 to 27 with schedules at Greensboro Ridgely Federalsburg and Denton. Registration $3 per pupil, $5 cap per family. Fifth graders and older eligible.

Summer Driver Education Program To Be Held Here

County officials offer a behind the wheel driver education program for students who finished classroom work. Six hours of supervised driving earn a certificate. In the north, 500 students from North Caroline and Lockerman High Schools are split into 15 groups taught by James Hadaway Jr. He will teach at North Caroline High next September after previously teaching in Worcester County. In the south, 37 students from Federalsburg and Pres continue the program.
