J F G ON MISSIONS SERIES OF ARTICLES ON CHRISTIAN MISSIONS

J F G begins a series on missions noting Jesus of Nazareth as the first missionary. He argues the early church operated without money or heavy leadership, survived persecution, and aimed for a simple, democratic form of church government. He critiques later romanticizing of the gospel and warns against clerical pomp and power. The piece frames mission, authority, and the roots of the church.
