Denton announces the engagement of Norma Jean Dodd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terman Dodd, to James Albert Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Johnson of Cheswold Delaware. The couple plans a wedding in the early fall.
Miss Norma Jean Wooleyhan of Templeville married Edgar Haulbert Clothier of Leipsic Del on Saturday June 6 at Templeville Methodist Church. Rev Covington presided with Mary Ellen Kinnamon on music. Families hosted a reception at Marydel Hall and plan to live in Leipsic after a trip to Atlantic City.
Mr Stephen Adams of Vernon and Mrs Annie Wilson of Hickman were married at the M P parsonage in Denton by Rev Thomas Turkington on Saturday afternoon. Attendants were Mr and Mrs Rufus Wright of Vernon.
Miss M Dorothy Jump and Miss Louella Davis visit Georgetown graduate Miss Madge Jump while Washington guests attend the 154th Georgetown Commencement. Attendees include Miss Ruth Hynson, Elizabeth Thuns eightieth birthday party, and several families visiting relatives in Baltimore, Illinois, and Norristown as Cordova and area graduates are noted.
Sixty members and friends of Grace Church Live Wire Class gathered at Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wrights on Monday evening June 8 at 6 30 for an annual covered dish supper and party. Hosts served country ham and tea biscuits while dessert featured ice cream and cake. Mrs James Wright, Mrs Virgil Moore, Mrs Paul Hall, Mrs Edward Quillen, Mrs Dorothy Bradley, Mrs Redmond Long, Mrs Anna Belle Pippin and Miss Pearl Taylor helped with the desserts. J Virgil Moore, class teacher, led a brief business meeting and activities included various sport games and a night of fun.
Mr James Voss of Denton graduates from Western Maryland College in the 88th annual commencement on Monday June 1. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and held offices in Pi Alpha Alpha and Beta Beta Beta. He served as assistant business manager of the College Year Book Alpha and is the son of Mr and Mrs Martin Voss of near town.
The Christian Comrade Class of First Methodist Church schedules a Consecration and dedication service for Sunday June 14 during Sunday School in their classroom. Purchases raised seating to thirty six. Members urged to attend with friends to fill the room. Committee includes Mrs Oron Smith Mrs Walter Kerslake Mrs James Hill Mrs Frank Lane and Mrs Theodore Orme president.
Robert E. Seeders son of I. Rowland Seeders of Annapolis and Caroline County natives, graduated from the University of Maryland on Saturday June 6. He studied in the College of Physical Education Recreation and Health, joined Phi Alpha Epsilon, directed the Beltsville Teen Age Center, and will serve at Southern Dairies central office in Washington DC starting Monday June 8.
Seventy eight Caroline County women join the Rural Women s Short Course tour on Friday June nineteenth. The itinerary includes a 2 p m White House visit and a choice among National Museum National Art Gallery or Cathedral tours.
Mr and Mrs Earl Love thank the Denton Volunteer Fire Company for prompt response and effective work in extinguishing a Wednesday morning feed room fire at their chicken house.
