Town and Farm in Wartime Urge Savings Drive
Able individual savings, 25 cents of each dollar is not too much to expect. They should and must invest more to reach the goal. Ice boxes for civilians total 239,575 to be produced in three months under WPB order. Production rate expected at about 75,000 units per month despite limited factory capacity and material scarcity.
Farm Supplies Access Expanded Under War Board Rule
A War Production Board regulation allows farmers to certify as a farmer to obtain up to 25 dollars worth of 140 listed farm supplies, with more by county rationing committees. Butter price cuts of five to six cents per pound start June 10, while evaporated milk joins rationed foods at one point per pound. Used oil stoves may now receive fuel under new rationing amendments, and wheat for feed sales are halted by CCC though limited feed wheat remains via dealers and AAA counties.

Maryland War Board loosens insecticide rules for cabbage crops
The Maryland War Board announces insecticide certification is not required for farm purchases of pyrethrum products up to three pounds of dusting material or one quart of liquid spray used against caterpillars on cabbage leafhoppers and plant bugs on beets and other pests. The report covers loan payments for 1942 soybeans and 1938 to 1941 corn, purchase plans for 1940 and 1941 corn notes, and urges farmers to consult county AAA offices before selling soybeans or settling loans. It also notes wheat planting trends in Canada and Australia, with reduced sowings and wartime subsidies, as governments push lower wheat plantings due to reserves, labor and machinery shortages, and higher demand for other crops.
