Spring and Summer Schedule Notice 1938

Anapolis and Matapeake announce a spring and summer timetable effective May 4 1938 with service times listed from early morning to evening including 7 25 pm departure and hourly slots through 8 pm. The notice confirms the new schedule for all runs.

Shore CCC Camps To Stay On Eastern Shore

Representative Goldsborough announced an order has been signed to continue the CCC drainage camps indefinitely. The Eastern Shore camps at Goldsboro Vienna and Westover will retain the same status as other CCC camps following funds for continued operation.

Dover Leads Shore League Race in Tight Standings

The Shore League table shows Dover leading with a .720 mark, Salisbury, Milford, Centreville, Cambridge, Federalsburg, Pocomoke, Easton, and others jockeying for position. Weekly results include numerous games across Friday to Thursday, with key wins and losses shaping the battle for the pennant and a note on league ball standards for 1938.

Washington College to Honor Dean With Portrait Ceremony

Washington College alumni will honor Dr. J. S. W. Jones, longtime dean, at the 1938 commencement with the presentation of a portrait by Elias W. Nuttle of Denton, to be accepted by college president Dr. Gilbert W. Mead. Jones joined the college in 1886, became dean in 1923, and has served as secretary treasurer of the alumni for nearly 50 years. Loran Langsdale of Baltimore arranged the portrait presentation.

Centreville Fire Destroys Two Garages and Stores

A Wednesday blaze in Centreville destroyed two garages operated by Frank B Walls and Harry C Butler and damaged a feed and grain store next to the Butler property. Damage estimated at 15000 dollars, some insured, with power outages in nearby downtown blocks. Walls suffered severe burns while Butler lost a speedboat and furnishings. aid came from Chestertown Church Hill and Queenstown fire units.

Dr Weygandt to Deliver College Commencement Address

Dr Cornelius Weygandt of the University of Pennsylvania will deliver the commencement address at the State Teachers College Salisbury on Monday June 6 at 11 a.m. He is the author of several notable works including Irish Plays and Playwrights and The Time of Yeats. The program includes a Baccalaureate sermon by Dr Ransom P Nichols on June 5 at 3 p.m. Alumni events run June 3–6, with a senior bronze plaque presentation honoring James B Richardson. No tickets needed. large attendance expected.

Bandit Robs Bridgeville Post Office in $500 Heist

Bridgeville postmaster Bradford Jones was slugged and a masked burglar escaped with about $500 in currency after a dawn robbery. Police from two states hunt a lone suspect, no description given, as investigators review the scene and secure the post office.

Old Trinity Church to hold 1928 anniversary service

Old Trinity P E Church in Dorchester county will mark Trinity Sunday June 12 1928 at 3 p m with a long running anniversary service. The event features Reverend William McClelland as rector in charge special preacher Reverend Charles Atwater of Chestertown and Christ Church Cambridge choir providing music. An 2 p m annual meeting of the Old Trinity Church Association precedes the service open to visitors from many states and beyond. The church lies seven miles from Cambridge on the state road accessible in all weather.
