Captain Elisha Hopewell and the Powder Carrying Whale

In July 1781 Captain Elisha Hopewell of the brig Mary Ann plans a risky voyage with a powder cargo bound for Wilmington. A calm sea, a charging British frigate, and a giant whale test nerves as Nancy Hopewell steadies the crew. The whale disrupts the British boat, the Mary Ann escapes, and the cargo is delivered to aid Patriot forces at Eutaw Springs.
