A growing business overruns the Ilennegan-Bates corner and moves into Oehm's Acme Hall, claiming to become the largest house south of New York and twice the size of any in Baltimore. Operations will not interrupt business, as prices are lowered.
A bustling sale feature highlights thousands of men suits at savings of three to ten dollars per suit with prices like six fifty and seven. a range of boys department deals and straw hats from nine and a half cents to regular price. Furnishings offers include fine dress shirts with linen bosoms. The piece also includes a long poetic quotation about a garden wind and summer love, attributed to Eugene Field in Chicago Record.
Old loyalist John Bedell battles hate and duty as his daughter Ruth plans escape with Ezra Winthrop’s son George. In a dramatic river chase, Bedell sacrifices himself to save the lovers, tilting toward a final vow before the falls and a king’s salute as his body is found downstream.
Dr Joseph C Greene of Buffalo had a modern table of stone engraved on a public roadside near Bristol Vermont. In 1892 he traveled from Buffalo to Vermont to fund the project and hired stone cutter W N McGee to engrave the Lord s Prayer across six inch letters later painted by H S Smith. The Vermont site is noted as the only such memorial in the country.
