Caroline County seeks PWA grant for five school additions
The Caroline County Board of Education applied in June for a 74,250 grant to match 90,750 of a 165,000 project funding five school improvements. Units cover Federalsburg classrooms and auditorium, Caroline High additions, Lockerman High School auditorium and extra room, Greensboro interior upgrades, and a Hillsboro two room building. Architects Malone and Williams engaged. construction aims to start soon.

Maryland Wheat Loans Open For Growers In 1938 Program

Two Held In Jail Charged With Thefts
Dorsey Edwards and Raymond Murphy are jailed awaiting the October court term on larceny charges after confessing to stealing from Malcolm MacDonald a gas range a three piece living room suite a victrola 50 records dresses and other items valued at 315 Their confessions include stealing auto mobile accessories and a shotgun from local filling stations and robbing several stations near Denton Whiteleysburg and Centreville The stolen goods were moved first to Philadelphia then Baltimore and recovered Fingerprints were taken by Maryland State Police officer Talon Paul Randall who noted the men had lived in a car with a Pennsylvania plate and had been stealing food from stations.

L. E. Raper told Caroline Farm Bureau picnic at Garland Lake that the Southern States Cooperative sets high farm supply standards, pools small sums, and can compete with giants. He cited nine wholesale plants worth 1.6 million dollars and a ten year shift from 14 to under 10 percent margins, with about 209 thousand dollars saved last year and most returned to stockholders or reserves.
