After Sherman left Abercrombie place the stillness returns
General Sherman had left the Abercrombie plantation after restoring order and returning livestock. On a cold misty November morning the Federal army departed toward Milledgeville leaving the farm quiet and unsettled. The foragers are gone but the household is diminished and the animal population senses the change with uneasy silence and fading warmth. Buster John and Sweetest Susan return for a look, seeking Drusilla and the familiar sights of the quarters.
