Camp Meetings of the Peninsula Schedule Six Camps

The Peninsula camp meeting season rises with Shiloh on July 20 running until July 29. Denton Holiness opens July 27 for ten days, Concord begins August 3 with Pastor Atkins aided by Miss Mabel McGinley and Hastings, Hebron runs August 4 to 20 led by Rev. William Lyden Hess, James' camp near Laurel returns, Carey's encampment near Laurel starts Augusta for ten days, Mudford renamed for Carey's Church location, with grounds improvements planned and Laurel Bethel camp possibly reopening.

Caroline county invited to host child health demonstration visit

Dr S J Crumbine of the Commonwealth Fund Committee visited Caroline county after an official invitation from County Commissioners. The trip surveyed thirty communities in ten states applying for the Second Child Health Demonstration to run five years, covering prenatal care through school age. Officials and physicians pledged support. decision on county selection will come later in summer.

Boy Scout Council Organized on Maryland's Eastern Shore

The Eastern Shore of Maryland forms a Boy Scout Council with eight counties represented at the Salisbury gathering. Major R. F. Seamore presented the charter. W. Goldsborough Bradford was named Scout executive with headquarters in Salisbury. Major John W. Noble leads the executive board. Congressman T. Alan Goldsborough spoke and pledged support.

Mr John T Plummer of Philadelphia visited the Journal office in Denton to display a Caroline county ballot from 1875. The ticket clearly shows Democratic candidates for Governor Whyte Attorney General Syester Comptroller Woolford and others for local offices. Rural carriers conduct 15 day nationwide mail count

Caroline rural mail carriers finish a 15 day inventory across routes. Post Office Department officials ordered a nationwide rural delivery survey to tally pieces of mail, weight of pouches, loop-route mail, parcels from loop routes, mail collected, and stamps sold. The December repeat seeks growth, expansion needs, and financial planning for rural delivery.
