Tutor's Passion in Georgia Plantations Revealed
Edward Lanier, a northern tutor, serves at Colonel Malcolm Sinclair's Georgia plantation. He falls for seventeen year old Alma Sinclair while guiding her education, leading to a crisis that ends with Lanier being dismissed, saving the colonel from a deadly attack, and later returning to marry Alma after earning the bar. The tale probes power, race, and propriety in the antebellum South.
