In the Fred R. Owens assignee for collection v A Howard Holsinger and Lara O Holsinger, an order on July 1 1933 directs ratification of the Auditor's Report unless good cause is shown within three weeks from July 8 1933. A newspaper publication in Caroline County is required twice before July 17 1933. Clerk T Clayton Horsey certifies true copy.
County Agent explains the Wheat Adjustment Act details and local administration. Farmers may reduce acreage by up to 20 percent of their three year average to receive payments funded by a processing tax, with two-thirds paid this fall and one-third next spring.
Three men and a boy were injured while attempting to steal a beehive from a tree in the woods near their home. Howard Johnson and two of his sons were pinned under the tree as it fell, with Johnson severely hurt and later treated. a neighbor, Walter Patton, suffered a leg injury and head injury, requiring amputation above the elbow. Help arrived only after dawn, and the party fled the scene before assistance could arrive.
A Maryland State Poultry Association tour, led by M. K. Newnam, runs August 22–25 from Baltimore and Dento to New England. The Farmers and Merchants State Bank of Denton Maryland at a July 1933 directors meeting adopted a plan of reorganization under Maryland Bank Commissioner requirements. Depositors will not be affected and will be paid 100 cents on the dollar when open. The bank has had no losses from stock and bond investments, only U S Government bonds held. any losses are attributed to local conditions. Directors congratulate themselves on administration.
Secretary Wallace defends not surrendering foreign markets for American farm products. He argues to keep and expand foreign trade, citing past declines in 1932 exports across wheat tobacco bacon lard and cotton. February figures show exports well below postwar norms with low prices overall.
Local beauty pageant and Movie Queen contest set for August 23-24 at Rehoboth Beach Delaware. Entrants aged 17 to 30 register by July 15, with judges selecting finalists and ballots voting by theatre patrons. Winners receive large silver cups, gold leaf theatre pass, and dress and bathings suit prizes from regional stores. Executive Committee oversees the event with final selection by Delaware and Eastern Shore judges.
The Caroline County Orphans Court held a Wednesday session with Judges West Towers and Dennis. It granted letters of administration for James K. Coursey estate to Jacob E. Gibson, filed bond, ordered creditor notice, and named appraisers R. Howard, Thomas, and Wm. Williams Jr. It also ordered executors Josiah A. Beck and George W. Beck to transfer and assign certain mortgages for collection and foreclosure.
W H Towns acknowledges neighbors and friends for sympathy during his wife illness and for floral tributes at the funeral, with sincere thanks.
