Quiet Fourth Reflected Across Town with Picnics and Races
The Fourth passed quietly in the area with residents at Clayton races or a Beterton picnic on the church green. Fireworks delighted children as several locals traveled to Tolchester. The season’s heat and lack of rain left pastures bare and early corn at risk, while blackberry shipments and yard improvements marked local activity. Notable visits included Prof. Shorts from Trenton and James Saunders from Cumberland, with social calls among Legates, Boyer, and Jarman families.

Kenney vs Denton Bank Trust, Appeals Court Opinion
Judge Burke concurs with Judge Hopper that the bank had no notice of the trust in the funds behind the disputed check and rejects applying the tracing trust doctrine. The case centers on whether the bank knew the funds were trust property when crediting the check to an individual account. The matter hinges on fact-finding about notice and ownership at the time of the transaction.
