Mayor Jackson Speaks On Government and Taxpayer

Ritchie Urges A 3 Cent Out In State Tax Rate

Maryland's 1934 and 1935 appropriations total about 63.1834 million, with net declines from 1933, and a 22 cent state tax rate proposed. Governor Ritchie sent a budget to the General Assembly showing large cuts in public schools, debt service, and roads, plus a planned 2 cent tax reduction and a voluntary ten percent salary contribution by the governor.
