Maryland Farm Bureau adopts resolutions on succession and education
At the Maryland Farm Bureau annual convention the final session endorsed definite governor succession, urged a curriculum highlighting American values and enterprise, and pressed standards beyond finances for public education. Other resolutions called for tax relief, more agricultural research, water rights studies, and relevant legislation. Maryland officers were re elected for the coming year, led by President Randall G. Spoerlein and several vice presidents.

Official 1958 tabulation shows 26.38 men per call and 41.42 minutes per call for 100 alarms. Theodore Manlove led with 92 calls, followed by Walter B. Palmer Jr at 91 and John McKenna among others. Town losses totaled 4295 dollars, rural alarms 46195 dollars, largest loss a barn and airplane hangar. Ambulance trips 142 to Easton and other cities, 448 hours, 7000 miles. Volunteers run a non profit service funded by user donations and remain ready to serve.

Doctor Kubler Named Chemistry Assistant Professor at Hampden-Sydney
Dr. Donald G. Kubler is appointed to the chemistry department as Assistant Professor at Hampden-Sydney College starting September 1959. He earned a 1947 B S from the University of South Carolina, a 1952 Ph D from the University of Maryland, and since 1952 worked in Union Carbide Chemicals, directing a team in development research. He has published several Journal of the American Chemical Society papers, is from Anderson town area, and will live on campus with his wife and two children. He attends the Methodist Church.

An Explorer Post of the Boy Scouts of America was formed last Wednesday at First Methodist Church under Rotary Club sponsorship. Lee Weller was named advisor, with Pat Kaufman as associate advisor. DeFord Brown elected president, David Lewis vice president, Sandy Wright scribe and treasurer, Dick Towers quartermaster, and Lewis Goodley chaplain. The post will meet every other Monday at First Church. boys 15 or ninth grade are invited to join.

Three Injured In County Accidents Last Weekend
Three accidents last weekend left two Denton residents and a Federalsburg driver injured. Wm E Baynard and Albert Baynard were hospitalized after a collision on the American Legion road near Watts Creek. Lester L Baynard faced charges for operating under the influence and reckless driving. A Federalsburg woman Clara A Brown suffered head and leg injuries after a curb and ditch overturn near Preston. A third incident involved a truck from Ducat Poultry Co. of Felton Del leaving Route 313 and hitting a telephone pole north of Denton. the vehicle resumed under its own power.
