Order Eastern Star Celebrates Twenty Fifth Birthday
Members of the Order of the Eastern Star from Maryland and Delaware gathered in the Masonic Building, Denton, January 15 to celebrate Caroline Chapter No. 62s twenty fifth anniversary. Life memberships were awarded to nine charter members with 1923 silver dollars. Grand officers and visiting chapters from Cambridge Salisbury Centreville Washington Harrington Dover attended.

Cromwell to Speak at County Meeting on Education
Dr. R. Floyd Cromwell, state supervisor in educational and vocational guidance, will address parents at Caroline County High School auditorium on Monday January 26 at 8:00 p m. The session, part of the State Department of Education program, will cover preparing for education beyond high school with a Q and A period.

The Eastern Shore Public Service Company of Maryland announces that effective December 26, 1947, the Betterton Millington and Denton Districts moved from Harrington Division to Cambridge Division. Consequently all operations on the Eastern Shore north of Dorchester County come under Cambridge Division supervision.

Farm Credit Co op Agent Urges Sale of Federal Stock
H G Baker of Bridgeville Delaware, rep of Production Credit Corp of Baltimore, urged Denton Production Credit Association members at their fourteenth annual meeting to push a sale of government owned stock. He warned Congress may retrench and stressed local ownership as intended. Baker proposed selling 30 000 of A stock at five dollars a share to prepare for financial shifts. He noted 30 million of 120 million loaned has been repaid to the U S Treasury and warned rapid withdrawal would hurt members. The association posted a 1947 net profit of 11 184 the largest in its history, with members owning 60 percent of stock worth 53 000. Directors elected included F Bennett Carter Russell P Smith and Clarence J Kern.

March Of Dimes Funds To Help Local Polio Victims
The 1948 March of Dimes drive in Caroline county enters its second week with progress toward the $3,500 goal. Volunteers across towns and districts solicit funds, clubs, schools, theatres cooperate, and mail appeals go out. Over 100 coin boxes are placed in local businesses to aid polio victims and research. Dr. Paul Knotts chairs the county chapter. G Arthur McDaniel, vice chair. secretaries and treasurer named, with local chairmen in Goldsboro, Greensboro, Ridgely, Preston, and Denton overseeing the campaign.
