Two Killed In Crossing Accident Friday
S Newton Smith 45 of Hillsboro and Miss Elsie May Bittle 16 near Ridgely were killed when their car was struck by the Pennsylvania Railroad Wilmington to Easton Bullet at a Goldsboro crossing Friday at 6 35 pm. Coroner J Spencer Lapham ruled an unavoidable accident. Funeral services for Smith were held at his home and burial followed in Greenmount Cemetery Hillsboro. Miss Bittle’s services were at J Virgil Moore Funeral Home Denton with burial in Ridgely Cemetery.

O'Conor Inaugurated Governor Amid Record Maryland Crowd

Denton joins nine Eastern Shore clubs in the Stewart Cup state wide amateur championship. Twenty seven teams compete. W. J. Bryan Dies Retired Federalsburg Merchant
William J. Bryan, longtime Federalsburg resident and former business man, died Saturday morning at Milford Hospital. Funeral held Tuesday at Bethel M E Church with Rev. Conrad Hamer, Rev. F. Douglas Milbury, and Rev. A. Fe. Zimmerman officiating. Burial followed in the adjacent cemetery. He had lived in Harrington with his foster daughter Edith Bryan Quillen. His wife Celia Stevens Bryan died in 1982. Surviving: sister Mrs. Thomas J. Waller of Seaford and brother John Bryan of Federalsburg.
