County Firemen's Assn. Met At Queen Anne Jan. 4
The Caroline County Firemen's Association met at Queen Anne Hillsboro on Friday night January 4 with 62 firemen attending. A crab cake dinner was served by the town Indies and 21 fires were recorded for the month ending December 15 Federalsburg had the most fires. discussions covered a central alarm system and a full time operator for the county. O J Morgan announced a bid for second vice president of the Delmarva Firemen's Association, elections May 8. Paul Lockery demonstrated inflammable household materials and safety tips. Next meeting will be in Denton February 1 with Social Security official Robert Allen Snedeker to speak January 14 at 10 am.

Garden Club Entries Win 19 Show Ribbons
Seven Caroline County Garden Club members entered the Christmas Greens Show at the Baltimore Museum of Art and collected nineteen ribbons. Mrs. Robert Holt led with thirteen awards across Horticulture and Artistic Divisions, earning blue for narrow leafed evergreens and broadleafed evergreens as well as Chinese Holly, plus yellow for three wreaths. Other awards went to Mrs. W. F. Davis for Ground Covers and broad-leaved evergreens, Mrs. A. T. Blades for a yellow plaque in the Artistic Division, Mrs. Enoch Nuttle for a white ribbon in Chinese Nolly horticulture, and Mrs. Carmen Leggett for red and white ribbons for evergreen collections.
