Adairsville Rail Crossing Tragedy Described In Odd Account

A wagon and a railroad track run beside each other near Adairsville Georgia for a quarter mile before a crossing. Walter Cartig reportedly panicked at an expressman and fled. The engine tried to beat the horse to the crossing but the horse died instantly after being struck. Curtis lay thirty five feet from the collision. A three inch iron ring in a pocket bent nearly double while his watch stayed active. A stray quip about a humbug Sue Flodder and a painter named Sally sparked general chatter about manners and insult in a social party tale.
