Health Fund Needs 10000 To Build Caroline Center

At a Caro line County Health Association meeting in Denton, officials said 10000 more is required by March 1 to access Federal and State funds for a county Health Center. The drive urges county residents to donate immediately to Caroline County Health Center, Denton, Maryland, with local clubs contributing 50 and 100 dollars respectively.

Raid Near Greensboro Implicates Steve Clough in Gambling

A 1951 raid near Greensboro Maryland led State's Attorney Wise, Sheriff An drew, Deputy Andrew, Constable Dennis and Cpl Koste to Steve Clough home where Clough was charged with maintaining a gambling place. Others at the scene were seized for gambling with cards and faced a Denton judge. All pleaded guilty except Russell Imord and were fined 50 dollars plus costs. Clough received 60 days in Caroline County Jail.

Mr Paul Gore Booth head of British Information Services and former head of the European Recovery Department spoke at the Denton Rotary Club. He traced postwar British history the Marshall plan role in economic recovery and joint efforts with the United States to keep the free world strong. He highlighted democracy tolerance and shared interests between Britain and the United States.

Fashion Show To Benefit American Legion Auxiliary Denton

The American Legion Auxiliary Caroline Post No 29 will host an annual Fashion Show at Denton Armory on Thursday at 8 PM with Benjamin's of Salisbury as sponsor. Local women and girls from Denton and nearby towns will model spring wardrobes, with a complete wardrobe displayed hourly. Proceeds go to the Auxiliary. refreshments and local entertainment promise a family friendly event chaired by Mrs. Hamilton Hallowell.

Denton Community Club Culinary Demo on Feb 16

The Denton Community Club met at the Club House on Friday February 16. Miss Mary Stinson demonstrated magazine style food presentation and cooking details. She prepared pot roasted chicken, egg omelet with stuffed tomatoes, and an oyster casserole while praising Eastern Shore Public Service for support and the new General Electric range.

License Plate Applications Mailed Today

Applications for new 1951 52 license plates for passenger cars and motorcycles will not be mailed out until February 23, 1951. Plates for these two classes go on sale February 26, 1951 and may be displayed on March 15. Applications for all other vehicle classes will be mailed later in March and go on sale April 1.

Queen Anne Votes to Incorporate as Town in Two Counties

A meeting of about fifty residents in the two county town of Queen Anne voted to form a corporate town, establish limits, begin a survey, and present incorporation to the General Assembly in Annapolis. Horace M. Morgan led the group guiding initial steps and named Allen Moore John Decker and Morgan as town commissioners for one year.

Girl Scouts Rally Set in Easton Armory March 10

The Five County Leaders Club launches the third annual Girl Scout Rally at Easton Armory on March 10, gathering troops from Kent Queen Annes Talbot Caroline Dorchester Worcester Somerset Northampton and Accomac Counties. Ruth W. Tate will preside with flag ceremonies at 10 30 am, and the program includes skits songs folk dancing and a Camp Todd talk. Attendance averages around five hundred. camp will be at Williston near Denton this year instead of Elk Neck.

Mrs Alice Margaret Hickel wife of Albert Hickel of Denton and a retired consulting chemical engineer died in Memorial Hospital Easton after two months illness. Daughter of Louis and Margaret White of New York she graduated Pratt Institute Brooklyn in 1901 and worked as librarian and personnel director until 1948. She belonged to American Library Association Chicago Library Club and National Association of Librarians funeral held at Christ Protestant Episcopal Church Denton yesterday at 2 pm burial in Denton Cemetery.

The Girl All-Stars of the B S League will meet Goldey Business College this Saturday night at Georgetown in the All Star game. Goldey’s 7 7 1 record features a top forward averaging over 18 points per game and the league’s second highest scorer. Dorothy Hallowell of the All Stars averages 18 5 per game, promising a strong scoring duel.
