Miss Lulu Hurst of Cedartown Ga. wowed about five hundred in Barnesville with feats of levitation and chair movement. Reports say her powers arise without trickery though physicians tested her, while the family denies spiritualist influence and lauds her as a simple honest girl.
A.B. Parliament, contractor on the Philadelphia branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, was abducted by about two hundred Italian laborers near Aberdeen. They hold him for about $1,500 in wages and threaten to cut off his ears or hang him unless paid. A large posse and police responded. fifty Italians were captured, six were shot (not fatally), and Parliament was found unharmed but frightened. One deputy was wounded. the mob remains volatile as authorities plan further actions.
