Road building tops nations industries in 1920s stats
Bureau of Public Roads figures show road construction employed about 1,000,000 last year, far eclipsing steel and iron and automobile sectors. Fifty million tons of stone and gravel will fuel 28,000 miles of Federal aid roads, a cube nearly 1,000 feet on each side. Other items note Ocean City storm damage, Maryland crop declines, Dover editor Wickes taking over Delaware State News, and prohibition’s impact on Delaware prisons.

Protect the Fish Urges Stricter Shad Protections in Maryland
In Baltimore Sun commentary William McClenahan of Port Deposit calls for a ten day season cut and fishing limited to three days weekly in April and May to conserve shad. He urges repeal of tidewater fishing laws and enactment of precise provisions, condemns sunken nets blocking shad routes, and warns that nets from shore to bay hinder migratory lanes toward spawning grounds.
