Census official sees low chance of reapportionment this session
W B Reed, appointed census supervisor after B G Stevens resignation, spoke with Senator Wellington in Washington. A bill to reapportion House seats is unlikely to pass this session as population data will not be ready until mid year. Maryland likely keeps six representatives. Cumberland and Baltimore areas show growth. Sixth district may spare precincts to assist others. Died notice follows: James H Shaw, 55, of Newwood Indiana, January 26 1900, survived by widow three sons and two daughters.
