Judgment Stand For Tyler After Appeals Court Ruling
In Easton Maryland the chancery session denied a motion to strike out the November judgment sentencing Wm. Preston Tyler to the penitentiary for murder in the second degree. Tyler’s counsel appealed, arguing the Avirett decision invalidates the indicting grand jury and petit jury. The court held the motion late and untenable, stating a fair and proper jury selection was used and would not release all penitentiary inmates.

Economy to Build a New One
A Centreville Observer note argues county needs may justify a new courthouse rather than extensive repairs. It says large repairs could equal the cost of a new building and still fall short of adequacy, urging that true economy favors spending now to gain a satisfactory result.
