Dr H F Willis argues that the winter of 1874-75 was far harsher than the current season, citing personal recollections of deep freezes, heavy snows, and long cold spells. He notes the present winter is mild with only a few cold days and a 64 degree afternoon, suggesting buds may swell and peaches could be affected differently.
