Byrne Nomination to U S Attorney for Delaware Adversely Reported

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 9 to 4 to report adversely the nomination of William Michael Byrne for U S Attorney for the district of Delaware. Byrne, former Delaware District Attorney, resigned to run for the House, backed by Addicks faction. Roosevelt reappointed him after election. Protests by the Delaware Bar Association cited neglect of duties and defective indictments. The fight moves to the Senate in executive session led by Maryland's Mr. McComas against the committee's majority report.

Thirteenth Confederate Veteran Banquet in New York

The Confederate Veteran Camp of New York held its thirteenth annual banquet at the Waldorf Astoria with eloquent tributes to Robert E Lee Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis.
