Roy's Battle at Beaux Arts Studio
Roy Mather befriends a penniless newcomer Nathan Lang at the Beaux Arts studio in Paris, helps him with meals, and grows inspired by Lang’s talent. After Lang’s sudden death Roy battles guilt and temptation to cheat Lang’s legacy for prize money, ultimately confessing and vowing to pursue honest work. Lang returns to offer support, and Roy resolves to share a studio and earn real success through perseverance.

Afternoon capacity halves two forenoon outs and one hour afternoon is the profitable school period. Dr Chancellor backs this, proposing eighteen hours weekly for under twelve. Baginskey cites German work on school hygiene supporting half time efficacy.
