Sun's belated interest in Maryland politics
The Baltimore Sun criticized for long time indifference to Maryland Democratic politics. It supposedly supported only out of desire for credit after a Democratic victory, while omitting any early backing for local legislators. The piece argues the Sun offered no principled aid during the campaign and now seeks to reap recognition from the victory.

Maryland Debate on Constitutional Convention and Voting Reform
The discussion centers on replacing a legislative call for a constitutional convention with a state amendment inspired by North Carolina and Massachusetts laws. The proposal would restrict voting rights to those who voted before 1867 or their descendants unless they can read or pay property taxes, aiming to exclude most African Americans and preserve white illiterate citizens. Proponents argue it removes risk of a dangerous convention and would elevate election standards. critics warn it disenfranchises and may contravene constitutional protections. If approved by the Legislature, the amendment would go to voters in fall 1905 for ratification.
