The Mins family Jasper, wife, and three children perished in a gas can explosion stored in a cook stove oven at Creston Indiana. The father and mother suffered severe burns and two young children died shortly after the blaze. Neighbors forced entry as the room filled with flames and cries for help.

Tragic Sunderland Inn Fire Seals Fate Of Three Women

A barroom fire at a Sunderland inn started by unknown means in the afternoon trapped three women as flames spread to whisky and other liquor. The landlord rushed to save his wife and child but perished with them. All four bodies were found burned beyond recognition after extinguishing the blaze.

Mother and Child Cremated in Denver Inferno

In Denver at 2018 Delgany street a mother Mrs George Masten and her infant son died in a fire sparked when a damp object on a table exploded and sprayed oil on the child. The mother ran with the burning infant into the street but was badly burned and the child died in her arms. The father is grief stricken and feared to lose his sanity.

Clothing Fire Burns Mrs Tiff in Cedarville

In Easton Pennsylvania on December 4 Mrs. Jacob Tiff of Cedarville Williams township was burned when clothes ignited by windblown flames while boiling soap in the yard. Her husband tore the burning fabric away. she sustained severe burns and may not recover, while Mr Tiff suffered serious burns to his hands.

Mrs. C. C. Kitts left two young children alone in a neighbor’s home. While unattended, a blaze broke out. One child, age three, died from burns. the other succumbed shortly after from injuries.

Stapler Cracker Manufacturer Shoots Self in Home

John T. Stapler, about 50, a noted cracker maker and grocer in the city, ended his life at his West State street residence. He and his wife planned a Bermuda trip, but he shot himself upstairs with a revolver after months of melancholia and financial worry.

New York Cruiser Launched at Cramp Yard in Philadelphia

The United States steamer New York, largest cruiser yet, was launched at Cramp’s shipyard in Philadelphia on December 2. VIPs attended including the vice president and Mrs Morton, Secs Tracy Noble and Rusk, and White House guests though President Harrison could not attend. Champagne bottle broke on the prow by Aden Clifford Paige as the ship slid into the Delaware at 2:08 pm followed by a grand banquet for visitors.
