Warning Against The Use Of Candles On Ice Covered Windshields
Keystone Automobile Club warns motorists not to use candles to melt ice or sleet on windshields warning of burst glass and eye injuries. Salt on blades or rubber blocks under the hood may clear or direct engine heat to the windshield while glyc erine is sometimes effective though not lasting. The glass is layered with a cellulose center that expands when heated, causing cracking rather than true explosion.
