Budget Reform Aims To Unify Maryland Finances

The Commission on Administrative Organization led by Simon E. Sobeloff proposes a single unified budget for Maryland to replace multiple budgets. The plan seeks clearer spending statements, better control of performance and purchasing, and nonpartisan support from lawmakers and business leaders. Izaak Walton League Organizes Caroline County Chapter

The Caroline County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America was organized at a dinner in Denton on Thursday evening November 29. About thirty guests attended. Temporary chair Talmage A. R. Strong presided. National Vice-President Royal H. Carlock and Eastern Representative John F. Stowell spoke on the league’s benefits and conservation role. Joe Fitzwater discussed the league’s history. A film on Lower Sourhs National Wildlife Refuge played, showing wildlife including game birds. Strong named president, A W Spiering vice president, A J Fletcher secretary. Twenty six members joined. new members within sixty days become Charter Members. Meetings will be held monthly at various county locations. next at Caroline High School December 12.

Denton Troop No. 165 visited Greensboro Troop two weeks after Greensboro toured Denton. Scouts enjoyed games songs and two movies one on the National Jamboree at Valley Forge and one on the Spring Camporee at Tilghman Island. A display of the first great show of progress in flying racing boating cycling and customizing. Sir Malcolm Campbell’s Bluebird from England drew comment for its size engine and 301.33 mph claim at Utah in 1935. Ab Jenkins Mormon Meteor shared honors after breaking 18 world records. Cars from 1951 and midget racers plus Gold Cup Boats highlighted marine exhibits. Air racing featured Luther Johnson planes and NASCAR display notes.
