Preston Defeats Snow Hill to Claim Eastern Shore Title

Preston, champions of Caroline county, beat Snow Hill 12 to 2 in an exciting game at Preston on Tuesday. Snow Hill had recent Worcester county win over Somerset, while Preston had defeated Talbot and Cecil counties. The finals vist Preston Saturday December 7 against Catonsville. The winning lineup includes C Phyllis McDonald and Eleanor Trice among others.

Governor Nice backs Universal Bible Sunday observance

Charbers Named District Chairman by three-county Scout group

Mayor Thomas H. Chambers of Federalsburg was elected District Boy Scout Chairman for Talbot Caroline and Queen Anne's counties at a meeting in Easton. Dr Norman P. Chan aud Centreville was chosen as District Vice Chairman and Scout Commissioner for the three counties. W G Rouse Easton for Talbot County W Ray Table Centreville for Queen Anne's County and Dr Mamice A Brackett Denton for Caroline County were named assistants with Wallace Woodford of Dover giving an address. The meeting noted district finance contributions and reported growth with two new troops bringing total to nine in the three counties and 152 Scouts. Easton Troop No 1 presented a Scout play directed by John Fountain.

Maryland Rye Adjustment Program Offered to Growers

Contracts for a four year rye adjustment program have been approved and are available to growers in this county. The program runs 1936 to 1939, with payments based on 30 percent of base acreage and adjusted by the average farm to parity price difference, subject to a minimum 35 cent per bushel payment if the gap is large. Eligibility requires prior rye harvesting in 1930 31 32 or 1933 34 35, and farmers sign contracts to harvest no more than 78 percent of base acreage. The program is administered county by the wheat production control association. For details contact the county agent.

Poultry and Farm Show Awards Highlight County Exhibit

The Caroline County Poultry and Farm Products Show opened Tuesday drawing poultry fanciers from nearby counties. visitors included H. D. Copeland of Anacostia, president of the Maryland Poultry Association, and Albert White of Ridgeley who led a large display of apples. Awards covered many poultry classes led by Greensboro entries with numerous firsts for W. H. Irons and J. H. Quillen, plus special prizes for Best Bird in Show and Best Turkey in Show among others.
