W F Davis Dies At Son's Home In Delaware

Former Maryland state senator Wilmer Fell Davis Sr. 62 died visiting his son Wilmer Fell Davis Jr. in Hartly Delaware. A Republican leader and Federalsburg businessman, he chaired county civic and church groups, owned Wilmer Fell Davis Co. and served three terms in the Maryland Senate beginning 1934, later on the Public Service Commission 1951 57. He held Masonic offices, led regional Methodist education boards, and was devoted to the Heart Association fundraising. He leaves his wife Maud Ford Davis and a daughter Mrs Paul Jenkins.

North Carolina High School left end Bill Darling was named to the Shore All Star Football Team chosen by the Delmar Coaches and Referees Association. He led in receptions and yards, with 33 catches for 677 yards and three touchdowns, plus 38 tackles and five fumbles recovered on defense.

Vietnam bound warrant officer departs for Qui Nhon

Warrant Officer Stanley E. Rieck a North Carolina High School graduate and Preston Texas native leaves San Francisco on the first leg of a flight to Qui Nhon South Vietnam to serve as a helicopter pilot in the U S Army. He recently completed WOCS at Ft Rucker Alabama following a 30 day leave.

Robbed and Gift Return Mark Holiday Crime in Henderson

A shotgun bandit robbed Henderson service station owner Carleton Gooden and returned a portion of the cash as a grim Christmas 'gesture.' Police later nabbed Cle tis James Dean of Woodside near the Maryland Delaware line, jailed in Denton on armed robbery charges. Three witnesses drove to the scene, while Gooden described the moments of the hold up before the suspect fled. Ridgely Lions To Sell Trees In Denton and Hillsboro

The Ridgely Lions Club will sell Christmas trees in Denton at City Service Station Market Street and Fifth Avenue on December 12 18 and 19. Trees will also be sold at Ridgely and Tracy's service station Hillsboro. They will stock single trees instead of bundles to improve quality. Details to follow in next week's ad.

Santa Plans Ridgely Visit

Word has been received that Santa Claus will make his annual pre Christmas visit to Ridgely on Saturday afternoon December 5. He is scheduled to arrive about 1 30 to greet all of his little friends. After their visit with Santa they will be led to the firehall for an hour of movie cartoons. Members of the Ridgely Lions Club will distribute bags of fruit and candy to the kiddies after the movie. Ridgely merchants co sponsor the event invite parents to view Christmas merchandise while children enjoy the show.

Probationer Is Sentenced to Serve Week Ends In Jail

Paul Edward Deibel was ordered by Chief Judge DeWeese Carter to serve weekend jail time while maintaining employment. The 60 day two way sentence stems from a probation revocation after a breaking and entering conviction and aims to support his family. Animal Commission Proposed for Stray Dog Problem
