The Fingers of Death on a Drunken Sea Captain
A Glasgow second mate recounts a Jamaica voyage aboard the schooner Christie. Captain MacDougall, feared and drunk, brutalizes Pedro the deck boy with three fingers on his left hand. After a fatal kick, Pedro lies bleeding and lifeless as the ship sails beneath a menacing, moonlit sea.
