Rev H G Budd Shore Educator Dies At Dover Del

Reverend Henry George Budd a 78 year old former president of the Wesley Collegiate Institute in Dover died after a fall at his North Governor's Avenue home. He was born in Conshohocken Pa and long served Delaware and Maryland Methodist churches before leading the Wilmington Conference Academy. He leaves a wife Edith Mary Price, daughter M Caroline Budd, and son Henry G Budd Jr. The funeral was at Wesley Methodist Church with interment in Smyrna.

Maryland 4-H Girl Wins National Calf Club Honor

Joyce Lee Remsberg of Middletown Maryland and Irving Newhouse of Mabton Washington named national Holstein champions in 4-H calf club. Remsberg earned 28 projects totaling 2500 dollars over seven years, while Newhouse, after 11 years, owns 12 Holsteins and holds state and national honors with multiple majors, scholarships, and leadership roles.

Caroline County Names Teaching Staff 1942 43

The Board of Education announced the 1942 43 teaching staff for Caroline County schools. Superintendent W Stewart Fitzgerald of Denton will open the term September 14 with a September 11 staff meeting in Denton. Names list includes principals and teachers by town with Denton and Federalsburg fields prominent.

Wickard Proclaims 43 Wheat Marketing Quota

Secretary of Agriculture Claude R Wickard proclaimed on August 5 a marketing quota for the 1943 wheat crop. A nation wide referendum will be held in the spring before June 10, 1943 to determine whether growers wish to have the quota remain in force. The quota applies to wheat on 1943 acreage allotments announced June 17 at 55 million acres the minimum provided by law. He urged diverting wheat to soybeans flax and other feed crops to aid war needs and storing the rest on farm for livestock and poultry use.

Adams Cross Roads Social Notes Highlight Local Visits

Mrs. Con Harmon and her son visited Adams Cross Roads on Thursday with Mrs. Blanche Adams and Virginia Lee joining the Bloomery picnic. Odessa Delaware and Philadelphia visitors called on local residents while New York travelers stay with Mr. Heller gren and family. Effie Adams hosts Lee Adams sister Minnie Adams from Wilmington for the weekend.
