Editorial notes on Wilson split and tariff talk
The New York World views Republican leaders as desperately hoping ex President Wilson reenters politics to unify the factions. It cites Bishop Berry on church publicity and warns that Fordney tariff plans push taxes onto the middle class while plans for tax cuts favor the very rich. Wilson reportedly backs Harding’s disarmament conference though will not speak during delicate negotiations. Parcel post losses and a rise in rates are anticipated. American Legion delegates head to France for battlefield visits as the Senate passes Capper-Tindher anti-gambling bill.
