An English Sanctuary at Beverley Minster

Beverley Minster in Yorkshire, 180 miles north of London, was the shrine of St. Join of Beverley who died in 721. In 938 Athelstan granted sanctuary privileges to the monastery for ordinary offenses, with four crosses marking the area.
