Tomato disease control by strong growth and rotation
Prof J A B Norton of the Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station urges keeping tomato plants vigorous and steadily growing to resist disease. Field rotation and Bordeaux spray help some diseases, but strong plants best withstand infection and continue production. Early life needs quick-available plant food, while high grade fertilizer and manure supply nutrients later. Growers typically apply at least 600 pounds of fertilizer.
