Messenger editor attacks Harrison supporters labor claims
Philadelphia Times reports the Phenixville Messenger accuses Harrison supporters of importing non English speaking Huns and other cheap labor to supplant American workers at Phoenixville Iron Works. It cites a 1880 circular and Ammidown’s tariff stance, demanding denial and warning of a political divide over labor protection and monopoly duties.
