Bay Bridge funding hopes fade after private offer delays
Senators Millard E. Tydings and George L. Radcliffe issued a joint statement after a half hour talk in Tydings office saying no immediate prospect exists to start the Chesapeake Bay Bridge project. They voiced caution but vowed to stay watchful for funding opportunities. They asserted private offers of 3 million dollars could have unlocked 7.5 million from federal sources. They stressed discussions with the President and aides suggested federal money would follow if private funds materialized.
