Dead Sea Fruit at Cummings Fort in a Love Triangle
Truman, a second lieutenant recovering from fever at Fort Cummings, falls for Olga, the commandant’s daughter, while Lt Hartley pursues her. As mud of jealousy and social duty rise, Olga agrees to wed Hartley under pressure. Truman’s health falters, a wedding is arranged, and a tense toast seals a fragile, unhappy truce amid the desert heat and rigid military decorum.

Whippoorwills Sing by War Child Under June Skies
A pastoral poem recalls twilight by a river and fields where a boy leaves prints in sand and cattle roam. Bells, birds, and winds shape a tranquil rural scene as music and stars echo love amid wartime.
An Experiment With Water and Ice Latent Heat
A London Knowledge note explains mixing hot water with cold water or with crushed ice. Two pounds of water at 40 C result from 1 lb at 80 C plus 1 lb at 0 C. When ice at 0 C is added to 1 lb at 80 C the mixture reaches freezing point, with heat drawn from warm water to melt ice. Latent heat remains in liquid form until crystallization resumes.
