Estate division puzzle and regional notes
A Chinese man died leaving eleven sheep and three sons. The will left one half to the eldest, one fourth to the second, and one sixth to the youngest, to divide without killing a sheep, but the boys could not find a method. A wise man added a sheep from his own flock and redirected the shares so each boy received half six, three, and two respectively, leaving the wise man with his own sheep. Was the division according to the will? A Bridgeville letter notes large fruit growers expect a heavy yield after a mild freeze, with peaches and berries set for a big pick. Col Edward Roberts, once Easton’s notable, reportedly near death in Baltimore at his son-in-law’s home. Roberts had been appointed building inspector by President Cleveland.
