Women and Children Benefit Under Social Insurance Provisions
Nationwide roundup shows 60 percent of the 1.25 million Social Security beneficiaries are women and children. Monthly checks help sustain purchasing power for families facing old age or loss of the breadwinner. Many fail to file due to lack of information, but a free post card form lets workers obtain a wage credit statement. Last year 48 million workers were covered, while over 20 million farm and self employed workers remain outside protection.
