L. Bcaulfield of the United States Oil & Refining Co reports drill progress at Bowie Arizona, now below 700 feet through cap rock with a paying oil body likely soon. Geologists estimate cap rock depth 400 to 600 feet and anticipate strong wells once penetrated. The firm, reorganized and funded, lists Frank Bledsoe as president and a Southwest investor-led management team.

Deming Schools Adopt Modern Health Crusade Program

Deming public schools will adopt the Modern Health Crusade across grades from junior high to high school after approval by Superintendent BE D Martin. Supplies funded by the Public Health Association will cover about 1 000 students, with lessons teaching health habits through play and routine chores. Labor Men to Meet Here Oct 18 and 19

Officials of the state federation of labor announced the annual convention will be held in Deming on October 18 and 19. Many Societies to Be Formed in Community Drive

The Luna County Community Service Association plans a formal launch with a dance at the armory next Friday September 26. A student- and worker-led program includes athletic clubs schools railroad shops a community orchestra a choral and a dramatic society with a speaker on aims and work. Mr and Mrs Mockett Stop in Deming on Way to Albuquerque

Mr and Mrs J S Pickett former residents of the galley stopped in Deming yesterday while traveling from Globe Arizona to Albuquerque where Pickett attends the Pacific Mutual Life Insurance convention opening today and tomorrow. Dr. J. G. Moir was summoned to Cincinnati on news his brother-in-law Robert Miller died in an accidental shooting at his home last week. No details were given about the cause or manner. Doctor Appointed to Aid War Risk Insurance Examinations
